Chapter 19
Sarah walked into the restaurant and immediately saw Toni, who smiled and walked towards her. ‘How are you feeling? Rick said you had drank a bit too much this afternoon and we were a bit worried about you, and had agreed to check on you if you hadn’t come down by 9.’ He had a look of concerned amusement in his face and she felt her own face flush a bright crimson. ‘I’m fine thanks, I had a long shower and it perked me up again, in fact I could do with something to eat.’ She omitted telling him about the events before the shower, even though she could tell he had guessed a shower on its own had not helped her.
The young waiter came over to her table and she ordered a plain omelet, she felt that would be a safe thing to eat in her delicate state, when he asked her what she would like to drink, she shivered and stuck to a coffee. Her meal was lovely once again, and after finishing her coffee she actually felt human again. She left the restaurant and headed to the bar, ordering a peach juice, just to be safe. She spotted Toni and Carol in deep discussion and wondered if anything else had happened to the bookings Carol had lined up. About 10 minutes later, Toni came over to the bar and poured himself a coffee, then sat down beside Sarah.
‘How is Carol today?’ She said. ‘I saw you two talking and it looked serious, I hope everything is okay.’ Toni seemed to think for a moment and look around, they were on their own at the bar, Rick was chatting up some customer at her table and they were the only others in there. He bent nearer to her and then said, ‘Carol has had another booking cancelled, this one was two families booking together and taking 4 rooms, they were to stay for a week but contacted her at the last minute saying they had decided to stay elsewhere after getting a recommendation in an e mail along with a discount. I really wish I could help her, she is such a good person.’ ‘I actually have an idea, but I haven’t worked everything out just yet, would you and Carol meet with me in the morning and I can tell you what I am thinking?’
Toni had said he would see Carol and they arranged to meet at 10 the next morning. Rick came over to them just as they had arranged the meeting and said, ‘what’s going on here, you two look like you are scheming something up!’ Toni was about to speak when Sarah jumped in, ‘we were doing the same as you were with that girl, Toni and I are going on a date.’ A huge grin appeared on Ricks face as he said, ‘get in there Toni, I didn’t think you had it in you.’ Sarah grabbed Toni’s hand and said, he is just shy and a gentleman, so he doesn’t brag like you English men.
